Lake Regional Hospital offers cardiovascular screenings

Event in conjunction with American Heart Month

February 15, 2011

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. — Lake Regional Health System will hold a cardiovascular screening from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, in the hospital’s third floor conference rooms. Registration is not required. According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among U.S. men and women. However, with education and awareness, heart disease often can be prevented or treated through diet, exercise and medication, if necessary.

Free pulmonary function tests, body mass index and blood pressure screenings will be offered. Complete cholesterol panels and blood glucose tests also will be available for $5. In addition, participants may have electrocardiograms performed for $15.

Fasting is required 12-14 hours in advance of the cholesterol panels. Water, black coffee and prescribed medications may be consumed. There is more information at the Lake Regional Hospital website.
