Arkansas Razorbacks: Final minutes comeback leads Hogs to win against Alabama

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Razorbacks (12-4, 2-1) erased a double-digit lead late to defeat the Alabama Crimson Tide (10-7, 2-1) 70-65 at Bud Walton Arena.  Marshawn Powell led the Hogs with 17 points.

"The number one thing today was the crowd,” said Powell. “It made me dig deeper than I ever thought I could."

The Hogs shooting woes from Wednesday's loss at LSU continued early.  Bama built an early 10-point lead as the Hogs struggled from the field.  A late first half 5-0 trimmed the lead to four.

After an early second-half surge by the Crimson Tide, the Hogs chipped away at the lead the rest of the game.  The Razorbacks took their first lead of the game under two-minutes after a Marshawn Powell slam after Rotnei Clarke penetrated the lane.  Clarke then added a runner in the lane after Alabama pushed back in front with two free throws.  The Hogs would keep the lead for good following back-to-back Alabama turnovers.

“We’re very fortunate to win today,” said Arkansas head coach John Pelphrey.  "We controlled late and we were fortunate to catch up at the end."

Trevor Releford led Alabama with 17 points.
