Spicy glazed walnuts, pizza dip

Lola’s Spicy Glazed Walnuts

  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp. almond extract
  • 1 pound walnut halves
1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Coat a baking sheet with cooking spray.

2. In a large bowl, beat egg white until foamy. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, vanilla and almond extract. Add nuts, and stir to coat. Spread evenly onto prepared pan.

3. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until well toasted and golden brown. Remove from oven, and cool completely. Store in an airtight container.

Lola’s Hot Pizza Dip

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. dried parsley
  • 1/4 tsp. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup pizza or spaghetti sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 ounces pepperoni sausage, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sliced black olives
  • 2 Tbsp. green onions

1. In a small bowl, mix together the cream cheese, oregano, parsley, minced garlic and basil.

2. Spread mixture in the bottom of a 9 inch pie plate, or 9x9 glass dish. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of the mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cup of the Parmesan cheese on top of the cream cheese mixture. Spread the pizza sauce over all. Top with the green pepper, pepperoni, and olives. Sprinkle with remaining cheese, and then top with green onions. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 min. or until cheese begins to bubble and brown.
