Springfield and Greene County officials have been planning for a new east-west thoroughfare from U.S. 65 to Campbell Avenue (U.S. 160/Missouri 13) and farther west but haven't identified funding for most of it.
City Council members on Monday also approved a measure that lets the city donate surplus land that it owns to non-profit groups or educational institutions. Last year, the city put up 64 tracts of land for sale; 14 have sold and more are slated to sell. Those pieces of property that aren't bought can now be donated under the guidelines of this new ordinance.
