Prep time: 30 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

4 ounces
cream cheese

1/4 cup
strawberry preserves

8 slices (1-inch thick)
French bread

4
eggs

1 cup
cream

1 teaspoon
vanilla extract

1/4 tablespoon
cinnamon

1 dash
nutmeg

powdered sugar

maple syrup

Directions

Preheat oven to 300 degrees for holding finished toast.  In a small bowl, mix together the cream cheese (room temperature) and strawberry preserves and set aside.  Take the French bread slices and make a pocket in the center by cutting from the edge through the bread to almost to the other side.  Take one tablespoon of the strawberry and cream cheese mixture and spread it in the center of each slice.  In a medium sized bowl, beat  together  the eggs, cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon and nutmeg.  Dip each slice of the stuffed French bread into the egg mixture.  In a lightly buttered medium skillet, over medium high heat, fry the French bread until golden brown on one side.  Turn and fry on the other side.  Move slices to the oven for holding.  Cut diagonally, arrange on plate, dust with powdered sugar and cover with maple syrup, to taste.
